Lisa Legeaux, DNP, PMHNP-BC
PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER
Dr. Lisa Legeaux is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides psychiatric medication management for children, adolescents, and adults at The Terrebonne Group. Drawing on experience across inpatient, community, and school-based settings, she brings compassionate, evidence-based care to patients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, grief, trauma, and select mood disorders.
Dr. Legeaux earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Southern University and A&M College and currently serves as an Associate Professor at Loyola University of New Orleans, where she teaches mental health to baccalaureate nursing students. Her clinical background spans some of the most demanding and meaningful environments in psychiatric care — including the Manning Family Children’s Behavioral Health Unit, the Center for Resilience behavioral health therapeutic day treatment program, and specialized behavioral health services within the Orleans Parish school system.
At The Terrebonne Group, Dr. Legeaux practices within an integrated care model, working closely alongside our psychologists and licensed clinical social worker to ensure that medication management and psychotherapy are coordinated around each patient’s full picture — not treated as separate services. She believes that the best psychiatric care is built on genuine relationship, careful listening, and treatment plans that evolve alongside the people they serve.

Therapeutic Approach
Dr. Legeaux’s approach to psychiatric medication management is patient-centered, collaborative, and deeply attentive to the individuality of each person she treats. Much like the diverse spirit of New Orleans itself, she recognizes that no two patients arrive with the same story, the same history, or the same path forward — and she tailors her care accordingly.
Her work is guided by several core commitments:
- Relationship First: Dr. Legeaux prioritizes building trusting, supportive relationships with her patients and their families. She believes that feeling genuinely known by your prescriber is not a luxury — it is the foundation of effective psychiatric care.
- Individualized Treatment: Every treatment plan is developed collaboratively, reflecting the patient’s unique needs, goals, preferences, and life circumstances. Dr. Legeaux does not apply a one-size-fits-all protocol — she listens, evaluates, and adapts.
- Family Involvement: When appropriate, Dr. Legeaux actively supports families as partners in the treatment process, recognizing that recovery and resilience are rarely achieved in isolation.
- Integrated Care: Working within The Terrebonne Group’s collaborative model, Dr. Legeaux coordinates directly with our therapy team to ensure that medication and psychotherapy reinforce rather than operate independently of each other.
- Evidence-Based Practice: All prescribing decisions are grounded in current clinical research and best practices in psychiatric medication management, balanced with careful attention to each patient’s individual response over time.
